EGT gets to about 800*, it goes BACK to 200-regen start and sits there half an hour, then kicks out and sets a P244C - too long in regen. I take out the aftertreatment injector to make sure it atomizes, and look in its hole. The injector is spraying through a tiny hole in about 1/4" of carbon. I poke through and clean it.

Tractor. RK37HC. My RK37HC now has 64 hours on it and I have yet to see a regen request. Several months back I seem to remember someone mentioning that theirs did a regen right at 50 hours when the first service was due. Just curious at what point other RK37 owners are seeing for having to start the regen process.

There are two types of regeneration: passive and active. Passive DPF regeneration . Passive regeneration occurs when the car is running at speed on long motorway journeys which allows the exhaust temperature to increase to a higher level and cleanly burn off the excess soot in the filter.

Driving on motorways or A-roads for 10-15 minutes at above 40mph should be sufficient for DPF regeneration to take place. Cleaning out the ash The process of burning the soot in the DPF filter leaves an ash residue, which builds up over time and needs to be removed. How Do I Manually Start DPF Regeneration? If you’ve noticed the dreaded “stop engine” light, it may be time to manually start DPF regeneration on your Pierce Fire Truck. Depending on the vehicle model, this process may take anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour. What I do know is after fuelling up it will do a regen within around 30-60 miles on average sometimes within just a few miles. If a regen cycle has started but not completed then further attempts will be started, usually at the most inconvenient times after a couple of failed attempts it seems to forget it for a little while. There are two other things to keep in mind. If you are not completing passive DPF regens regularly or if your truck does not see long periods of expressway speeds, you will most likely run into some issues. It is prudent to perform a forced DPF regen at least once, if not twice a month, as preventative maintenance. vEvhY.
